From Start To Scale, JHMG Can Help Your Business Unit
Or New Business Launch & Grow

The leading indicator of success in a SaaS startup is experience. If you haven’t run a SaaS business or business unit in the past, it is almost impossible to know all the moving pieces on the board.

That’s where JHMG comes in. We’ve been building SaaS businesses from startup to scale (for new businesses) and as part of existing businesses for over two decades.

To successfully scale your SaaS startup, you need to know the specifics of how to plan your organization, build your product, hire your team, grow revenue, and implement management systems that streamline your business. JHMG has both technical understanding and direct experience in all of these areas, including who to contact for specific roles, which groups to use, and much, much more.

We start with the basics; thoroughly scoping your MVP and building a financial forecast that makes sense and can be used to raise capital. Once we know the idea has legs, we move on to building prototypes so you can more easily shop the idea around and get feedback from potential customers. At the same time, we start working on your Go-To-Market (GTM) strategy and helping you build connections to the right investors.

Once you have the financial plan, GTM strategy, dollars invested, initial prototypes, and a few more items, we help you staff your company, build your product, and begin growing revenue.

Our Process Working With Funded SaaS Businesses

3
Product & Customer Validation

Before you can start building anything, it's imperative to validate your understanding of the market and their needs, and ensuring that your prospects will actually buy your product. We help by conducting buyer surveys, running focus groups, meeting with potential customers, and validating both your ICP (ideal customer profile) and your product.

Minimum Viable Product (MVP) Scope of Work

In order to understand the growth of the product and time to market, a deep understanding of the build cost and time are required. During this phase, we go through a series of meetings with you and your team, analyze competitors, and more to build a thorough scope of work for your software or SaaS application.

Financial Forecasting

Either prior to or in parallel with validating your product and ICP, we will build a comprehensive forecast covering the costs associated with running the business, how much capital will be necessary and at what points, and predictions on estimated product revenue with associated timelines.

System Prototypes

Once we've validated that the product will sell, we've built forecasts for the business' growth potential, and we have a solid understanding of build costs and timelines, it's time to put together system prototypes. These are built in a design system that allows users to click through the system, but is not a coded system. This way, the system design can be iterated on easily while feedback is gathered from potential customers.

Go-To-Market Strategy

As you're meeting with potential customers and getting a better understanding of the market, you'll need to create a Go-To-Market (GTM) strategy and plan costs, which will be incorporated into your forecast. This strategy will be key to raising capital and understanding how your organization or business unit will be built.

Raising Capital

Once you have your market research, validated ICP and product-market fit, financial forecast, SOW, and prototypes, we can put together a pitch deck to help raise capital if necessary. This could be a business case analysis for higher-ups within an organization or a pitch deck and presentation if you're starting a new business.

Application Build

Now that your SaaS business has been validated and you're ready to build, our team can come in to set up the architecture and either build the application, start the build, or a hire a team and get it organized and started on the application. We organize the team based on your financial and speed-to-market requirements. This can be a done-for-you, partial done-for-you, management and leadership only, or complete team hire and setup process.

Sourcing & Hiring Team Members

From front-line, senior developers to user experience to product ownership to sales & marketing, and executive leadership, the JHMG team how to find the right people and build the right team. The ideal mix is a combination of hiring full-time, part-time, and agency resources to build your application and organization. It all depends on your organization's financial and speed-to-market requirements.

Management Systems

Once your team is assembled and your business is in motion, management systems are the next recommended implementation to maximize efficiency. These are systems like 1 to 1's, OKRs, KPIs, management dashboards, budgets to actuals, board meetings, and much more. Our C-suite team can help you implement these systems and keep them running to drive explosive growth.

How To Destroy An Acquisition

How To Destroy An Acquisition

Since they are heavily entrenched in the market, it seemed like they thought they could sell the product to their existing customer base. Of course, why not? They had tons of customers in this market who mostly liked or loved them. How could this go wrong?
